Unpacking Sillyboot menu for dualboot to device
- download archive: [sillyboot_2.tar.bz2] (place it into /home/user/MyDocs folder, for example, it's root of N9 drive in mass storage mode)
- run following command in priveleged shell (devel-su):
tar xjvf /home/user/MyDocs/sillyboot_2.tar.bz2 -C /
*you can use Sillyboot2 mods with another graphics: [Sillyboot v2 multiboot mods thread]
am struck at this point,

tar: can't remove old file sbin/preinit: permission denied

PLEASE HELP

Check that you installed sillyboot correctly. That is:
  • After you transfer sillyboot archive (tar or tar.bz2) file to your device remeber to check with md5sum.
  • Make sure all files are in correct places (you check what files are used by opening the archive on your PC).
  • Make sure the preinit script has executable permissions on your device.
  • If all else fails restore system state by flashing (single image flashing is enough). You can use a command described in option C in installation topic.

Note that if you cannot even boot to MeeGo then you can still access your phone e.g. with Rescue9:

Hi,

Went around in the same circle as some people describe above. " press volume up... shows "@@@" for 10/15 seconds and turns off.... reinstalled/reflashed etc.

turned out to be that /home/nitdroid folder didn't exist. Made the directory, extracted alpha4 to /home/nitdroid and voila.... it works great.

hope this helpes... I'm not an expert, but just stumbled upon a solution  :)

cheers, Fabian

Sounds like a battery problem. In most case you can just plug in your charger and if the device halts upon booting wait a minute and hold the power button for about 8-15 seconds (until device reacts). Leave the device for few minutes and turn it on (if it didn't boot itself).

If above is not your answer then something might have been messed up when your tried to flash the device. You might try to reinstall Nitdroid (go to installation topic, start from option C and then move to A).
